Yama- Messenger First Social Platform
Industry: Social Media & Communication Platforms • 2024 • Branding, Brand Style Guide, UX UI
Yama is a messenger-first social platform that redefines how fans and public figures interact. Unlike traditional apps where users pay upfront to send messages, Yama introduces a credit-based model where fans are only charged if the creator responds.
-
Develop a clear brand strategy to position Yama in the creator economy.
-
Create a bold and distinctive brand style guide including visual identity, typography, and color system.
-
Design the UX/UI of the app, focusing on seamless fan–creator interactions, wallet system, and content posting features.

(The Approach / Process)
01 – Discovery & Research
Yama is where conversations turn into connections — fans only pay when creators engage, making every reply truly worth it.
02 – Strategy & Direction
Defined audience, positioning, brand personality, and keywords.
03 – Brand Identity & Style Guide
Created a bold, maximalist style guide with color palette, typography, and visual elements.
04 - Mockups & Applications
Designed business cards, product tags, website layouts, and packaging to show the brand in real life.
05 – UX UI Design
Designed user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity screens for onboarding, chat, wallet, and content features.
06 – Design System:
Built reusable components (buttons, forms, icons) to ensure consistency across the app.

This project challenged me to balance the needs of both fans and creators while building a brand that feels bold yet functional. Designing a fair pay-on-response system and translating a maximalist identity into a usable design system pushed me outside my comfort zone.
Through Yama, I grew in connecting brand strategy with product design and in creating scalable, user-focused design systems.
